Course Summary

The Master of Studies in Entrepreneurship is an academic programme focussed on developing impactful entrepreneurs.

The Masters in Entrepreneurship programme teaches you the knowledge and skills you require through a combination of online courses and practical activities that include hands-on workshops and seminars by industry practitioners.?We combine an academically rigorous curriculum with a learning-by-doing approach facilitated by mentors, peers and industry practitioners.

Our cohort consists of nascent entrepreneurs looking to jump-start their business, and more experienced entrepreneurs who have achieved some success but crave a deeper understanding of the drivers of success. We also welcome intrapreneurs who seek to understand how they can better utilise the principles of entrepreneurship to drive their organisations forward.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds but are connected by a common desire to learn from each other, take responsible action and contribute to a special community of entrepreneurs at Cambridge Judge Business School.

Overview

The overall aim of this programme is to instil the knowledge, skills and mindset to enable students to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. The programme aims to enable students to:

  • Identify, analyse and select actions to take with respect to specific opportunities for entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Understand and articulate a venture's value proposition through the identification of need for a specific customer segment.
  • Be able to establish and analyse various business models to see how different resources and capabilities, i.e., inputs, can be effectively transformed into sustainable and differentiated value, i.e., output.
  • Make effective decisions to address the challenges associated with the establishment of founding teams and nascent organisations.
  • Understand the behaviours and practices that allow entrepreneurs to navigate and operate within an environment characterised by substantial uncertainty and ambiguity.
  • Effectively communicate what their venture is; what does it do and why.
  • Develop learners' ability to function as leaders of innovation projects, whether inside established organisations or in start-ups.
  • Identify a ventures' position within the environment, both in terms of its impact externally and the role of external factors on a venture.

At the end of the course, students should be able to:

  • Generate/identify ideas for entrepreneurial ventures, evaluate the potential for success of those ideas, turn the ideas into a set of hypotheses to be tested and objectives to be pursued, select and execute methods and techniques to test assumptions. Understand the mechanisms and contingencies underlying the tools used for the above.
  • Identify rational, social and emotional levers to be used in the persuasion of the critical audiences of innovators, early adopters, co-innovators and distribution partners required to get a venture off the ground. Understand the mechanisms and contingencies underlying the tools used for the above.
  • Select and prioritise the set of capabilities a venture should develop and be able to articulate why these are the right capabilities for the specific venture at that point in time. Understand the mechanisms and contingencies that underlie these decisions.
  • Understand the foundations of effective entrepreneurial/innovation teams and the steps and dynamics than lead to effective or ineffective team behaviours.

Entry requirements

Candidates are expected to have a good undergraduate degree from a recognised university. Applicants must have obtained at least a UK Bachelors (Hons) Degree with a 2.1, or equivalent standard from an overseas institution. You must submit a copy of your undergraduate academic transcript (or degree certificate if a transcript is not available). Applicants who have not achieved the minimum requirement at undergraduate level will be considered if they have a relevant postgraduate qualification or good master's degree.
